Cycling forward: 116 new bikehangars coming to Wandsworth

In the next exciting phase of the bikehangar installation programme, which is already amongst the biggest in the UK, Wandsworth Council is proposing 116 new on-street bikehangars across the borough.

This expansion builds on the council’s ongoing commitment to supporting active travel and improving cycling infrastructure. To date, 346 on-street bike hangars have been installed.
Residents have been sent letters inviting feedback on the new suggested locations. The consultation closes on 20 November, and residents can have their say on our website.
In addition to the 116 new on-street bikehangars being consulted on, the council will be installing 14 bikehangars across estates in the borough, to help encourage cycling and enable safe cycle parking.
Jenny Yates, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “We’re proud to continue investing in cycling infrastructure that makes it easier and safer for residents to choose active travel.
“We’ve also included bikehangars as part of our ambitious Access for All programme, meaning eligible residents can get 50% off annual bikehangar memberships to help ensure no one is priced out of opportunities for active travel.
“These new bikehangars will help meet the growing demand for secure bike storage and support our broader ambition to encourage sustainable travel across the borough.”

Residents across Wandsworth can request a bikehangar to be installed near their home or workplace, even if there’s already one on their street.
The council reviews all requests and considers demand, location suitability, and feedback from neighbours when planning future bikehangar installations.
