We have been working closely with the police to ensure that all residents and people visiting the area for the fireworks are kept well informed.

Protest route from Whitehall to Vauxhall bridge and Nine Elms Lane

The protest, managed by the police, will be taking place on the same day as the Battersea Park Fireworks and so we are advising all residents and people in the area to consider their plans ahead of time.

It is likely that the protest will attract marchers from central London, who will cross Vauxhall Bridge and then gather near the US Embassy on Nine Elms Lane.

Protestors have been asked by the Metropolitan Police to finish the protest at 4pm and for all equipment to be put away by 5pm.

The police intend to keep roads open as long as possible.

Any person participating in the Palestine Solidarity Campaign post-procession assembly must remain within the shaded area (purple) of Nine Elms Lane, SW11 on the map below. Any stage erected for the assembly must be in the specified area (blue) on the map.

What roads are particularly affected?

The marchers are expected to set off from Whitehall and continue along Vauxhall Bridge Road enroute to Nine Elms. A stage will be set up by Bloom Building/Riverlight Quay bus stops on Nine Elms Lane. We expect most of those taking part in the march to leave the area via Vauxhall – but some may travel westwards towards Battersea Park and other nearby tube and rail stations.

What is the impact on public transport?

We expect the following stations to be busier than usual and advise everyone to plan their travel ahead of time.

  • Vauxhall train, tube and bus stations.
  • Battersea Power Station, Nine Elms, Clapham Common and Clapham North on the Northern Line.
  • Clapham Junction Station.
  • Queenstown Road and Battersea Park stations.
  • Sloane Square station.
