As part of the works, the gym will be expanded and fully refurbished with a wider range of equipment and a brand-new health suite will be installed, replacing the existing spa, and a brand-new Reformer Pilates studio will be added, alongside a larger group cycling suite. The improvement costs are being fully funded by our partners at Places Leisure.
Through engagement with residents and users we heard loud and clear that the 33-metre pool should remain at the centre. The changing facilities are currently receiving a makeover, and the teaching pool will be redesigned to encourage water confidence, play and to support young swimmers. Other family friendly facilities include a brand-new soft play area, ensuring a range of fun and engaging spaces for children around the centre.
Councillor Ethan Brooks, Cabinet Member for Environment said:
“Creating a centre that serves the Putney community is our priority for this upgrade. These improvements will bring a new lease of life to the centre, with modern facilities and new activities, whilst retaining the features and character that our community values.
“We thank residents for their feedback and involvement in helping these plans to be confirmed and hope that the centre remains a place that is much-loved by locals and enjoyed by all ages.”
A new café and reception area will also form part of the upgrades, creating a place where users can connect and enjoy the space before and after sessions.
Works are set to be delivered in phases to minimise disruption to users with works across the centre expected to be complete by the end of Summer 2027.
