The visit showcased how Family Hubs bring together health, education, and community services under one roof to provide families with the right support at the right time. In Wandsworth, this work is closely aligned with the national Best Start for Life strategy, reflecting our commitment to giving children the best start in life through services that support the whole family.

The Deputy Minister and her delegation toured the Roehampton Family Hub, meeting families, staff, and partners including health visitors, Places to Be, Rackets Cubed, Family Nurse Partnership, and children’s centre staff.

The Honourable Datuk Hajah Rosey binti Haji Yunus, Deputy Minister for Women and Early Childhood Development, said: “I am delighted to see first-hand how Wandsworth’s Family Hubs are delivering such comprehensive and accessible support for children and families. The integrated approach, with services working together in one place, is inspiring and provides valuable lessons that we can take home to strengthen our own support systems for families in Malaysia.”

Judi Gasser, Cabinet Member for Children, added: “We are proud to showcase the work happening in our Family Hubs, which puts children and families at the heart of what we do, engaging with over 4,723 families a year.  It is an honour to share our approach with overseas colleagues and to know that what we are building here, in Wandsworth, can inspire best practice around the world.”

Over the summer, thousands of children and families benefitted from Wandsworth’s Holiday Activities and Food programme, while our expanded Access for All offer means many more pupils are now receiving free school meals, uniform support, and help with school trips. Alongside partnerships like Magic Breakfast and the Imagination Library, these initiatives are ensuring children across the borough are well-fed, ready to learn, and supported both in and out of the classroom.
