Bike building
Wandsworth Road Safety Team offer a free bike building course delivered for any secondary school in the borough.
The course is 20 hours long and delivered during the school day. We teach pupils how to totally fix and rebuild an abandoned bike into a fully functioning roadworthy one. Pupils get to keep the bike they’ve been working on at the end of the course as long as they complete the course, as well as Bikeability Level 2 on road training with 100% attendance.
We have so far delivered the bike building course at Ernest Bevin, Southfields Academy and St John Bosco for mixed groups of pupils from year 7 to year 11.
The course offers pupils a range of life skills, practical skills and opportunities to succeed. This includes problem solving, teamwork, inclusion, belonging, emotional health, wellbeing and attainment.
If you would like more information about the bike building scheme or are interested in booking this in, get in touch so we can look at possible dates.
