Mega Skip Days

Mega Skip Days are an opportunity for people to dispose of bulky items for free.

Large skips are placed in neighbourhoods around the borough for all local residents to use. We are now running Mega Skip Days twice a month after figures showed they helped lead to a 16% reduction in fly-tipping.

Dates and locations

Mega skips are located in different areas across the borough.

Mega Skip Days will be held from 9am until the skips are full or 12 noon (whichever comes first) on the following dates. Keep an eye out on X, formally known as Twitter for updates on how full the skips are.

Saturday 27 July

On Saturday 27 July 2024 the skips will be in the following places:

  • Acanthus Road, SW11 5TY
  • Putney Park Lane, SW15 5HU
  • Malva Close, SW18 2JU
  • Larch Close, SW12 9SY
  • Church Lane Car Park, SW17 9PP

Who can use the skips

The skips are open to residents of the London Borough of Wandsworth only. Proof of address may be required on the day.

What you can bring

Residents can take up to six items along with them to the mega skip for free, including some electrical equipment and household items like mattresses and sofas.

One bag of rubbish counts as one item, as does one sofa, one mattress, etc.

We cannot accept the following items:

  • Hazardous objects or dangerous materials/chemicals such as sharp objects, needles, dangerous chemicals, plasterboard, flammable liquids and asbestos
  • Paint
  • Concrete
  • Car batteries
  • Cement, rubble or hardcore
  • Plasterboard
  • Engine oil or cooking oil

We will not tolerate any aggressive or abusive behaviour directed towards our staff, so please be courteous to our staff when dropping off unwanted items.

Other ways to dispose of large items

If you miss the Mega Skip Days and want us to collect your bulky items you can book a bulky waste collection.

Also, you may want to consider donating or selling your items if they are in good condition.
