Services over Christmas
Public bank holidays for Christmas 2024 fall on the following days:
- Wednesday 25 December 2024 - Christmas Day
- Thursday 26 December 2024 - Boxing Day
- Wednesday 1 January 2025 - New Year's Day
Customer Centre
Council offices will be closed on Wednesday 25 December 2024, Thursday 26 December 2024, and Wednesday 1 January 2025.
The telephone lines and Customer Centre will close at 3pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. The Customer Centre doors will close for the last customer at 2.30pm.

An on-call service is available on 25, 26, 28 and 29 December and 1 January 2025 between 9 and 11am. On 24 December and 31 December it will be available between 3.30 and 5pm.
This service is for the issue of burial certificates required for a funeral that is to take place within 24 hours.
The on-call registrar will issue the burial certificate if:
- You can provide confirmation that the burial is to take place within 24 hours
- We have received a correctly completed medical certificate of cause of death from the Medical Examiner or Coroner
- You are qualified to register the death
