Electoral Registration for residential and care homes, hostels and student accommodation

The law requires us to carry out an annual canvass of electors by contacting all residential addresses to establish if the information on the electoral register is complete and accurate.

As part of the annual canvass, Electoral Services will contact those who have been identified as being responsible for properties such as care homes, student accommodation, hostels and houses of multiple occupation (HMOs).

We require the full name and nationality of every resident who is eligible to vote, as well as an indication of whether they are aged 76 or over. This information will be gathered electronically or by telephone where possible.

Once the required details have been received, we will invite unregistered residents to register to vote and remove the names of electors who are no longer living at the address.
