Renew your overseas voter registration
An overseas voter registration is valid for three years, lasting until 1 November in the third year after it takes effect. For example, if your registration takes effect on 1 March 2024, it will expire on 1 November 2026. This type of registration will always expire on 1 November.
We will contact you when it is time for you to renew.
What you need to do
There are two steps to follow:
- Step 1: Renew your registration online at www.gov.uk/renew-vote-abroad using the access code provided when we contact you
- Step 2: Apply for either a postal or proxy vote. You need to do this even if you have applied previously
We recommend appointing a proxy. While we send postal vote packs as early as legally possible, this could be 7 to 10 days before an election. Your completed pack must reach Wandsworth Town Hall by 10pm on polling day and we cannot guarantee it will arrive in time. Read more about overseas voting options.
If you have returned to the UK
If you are back in the UK, please let us know so we can remove your overseas registration.
You should apply to register to vote at your UK address if you haven’t already done so.
