Data Protection Policy

Many Council services involve processing personal data. Our Data Protection Policy sets out how we comply with data protection legislation, namely the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and related laws.

Why it is important

Following this policy helps us maintain the trust of residents and service users in dealing with their data. It reduces the risk of an information security breach taking place, and the subsequent distress this may cause to those affected.

As so many of of our services and functions rely on processing personal data, we will provide a more efficient and effective service by ensuring this data is accurate and usable.
