Using sustainable and low carbon transport
Transport makes up approximately 21% of Wandsworth’s emissions, choosing more sustainable transport options can significantly reduce your emissions and help to improve the borough’s air quality.
Invest in an alternative fuel vehicle
Petrol and diesel engines emit carbon dioxide and air pollutants, which negatively impact our health.
Alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) offer significant environmental benefits and often have lower running costs.
Alternative fuels and vehicles available in the UK include:
- Electric vehicles
- Electric hybrid vehicles
- Fuel cell vehicles
- LPG (liquified petroleum gas)
- CNG (compressed natural gas)
- Biomethane

Try Before You Bike scheme
We have partnered with Peddle My Wheels to run the Try Before You Bike scheme in Wandsworth.
The scheme is designed to encourage people to cycle, and to see if cycling is for them without investing in their own bike.
Individuals and families can rent new or nearly-new bikes, cargo bikes, or electric bikes for a monthly fee.
