Dispose of your batteries safely

A recent small fire in the borough was caused by batteries being thrown away in household waste.

The incident was handled by the fire brigade quickly and no one was hurt, but it’s important to remember how to dispose of batteries safely to avoid future incidents.

Please do not place any batteries in your recycling or rubbish bins.

Where to take old batteries

Please take old batteries to:

• Local library
• Local leisure centre
• The council's Customer Centre, Wandsworth High Street

The above locations will accept the following batteries:

• Button cells
• Disposable and rechargeable batteries
• Battery types D C AA AAA 9V.
