Listening to Lavender and Northcote residents
Published: Saturday, December 6, 2025
Residents from the Lavender and Northcote wards joined us today on Saturday 6 December at the latest community drop-in event to meet with Council Leader Simon Hogg. The drop in is a space for residents to share their views, ask questions, and discuss issues that matter most to them.

The event was held at local institution Devas Club, a youth club that has been serving the community since 1884 and offered people the chance to share concerns about their local area with the Leader or get specific advice from ward councillors and council officers over refreshments.
Residents discussed the twice monthly Mega Skip Days around the borough which allow a quick and convenient way to dispose of bulky waste for free.
The free bulky waste collections were also discussed as Wandsworth residents are entitled to two free bulky waste collections every 12 months.
The Council heard concerns about Lime Bikes and were questioned about how it is supporting community safety by building community cohesion.
There was praise for various council schemes such as waste collection of small electricals, the Falcon Road Bridge refurbishment and the council's successful campaign to keep Lavender Hill’s Police station front desk open.
The Wandsworth Council Green Plaque scheme was discussed with a local resident highlighting the various individuals and locations commemorated and the importance of local heritage.
Council Leader Simon Hogg said: “As a listening council, we greatly value the opportunity to engage directly with residents. These drop-in sessions are an important way for us to hear from our communities, understand their priorities and work together to create meaningful change in the local area.”
Simon Hogg was joined by members of the local police team, a representative from Transport for London and council officers from housing, waste and recycling and community safety.
