Street party applications open soon for Car Free Day celebrations

Applications to host street parties on this years’ Car Free Day (22 September) will open soon, with all residents being encouraged to apply. 

Residents are reminded that it is FREE to apply for a road closure to close their road to traffic and turn them into play areas and party venues for the day.  

Car Free Day is an annual event which brings families, residents, and communities together in a safe place without the fear of cars, trucks or lorries getting in the way. It also helps reduce air pollution.  

Applications to hold a Car Free Day event between 20 and 22 September will open on 15 July.  

Any street can apply to take part, providing it isn’t a main road, bus route or emergency vehicle route.
