Recycling sack deliveries
Published: Wednesday, October 23, 2024
Following the introduction of new rubbish and recycling collection services earlier this summer, which includes food waste collections along with a new fleet of environmentally friendly waste trucks, all part of our Cleaner Borough Plan, recycling rates have increased compared to this time last year.

As a result, our supplier of recycling sacks has been working at pace to provide additional sacks to meet this extra demand.
This means that in some cases we are sending households rolls of clear, transparent recycling sacks, as well as the usual orange council recycling sacks. And as part of our Cleaner Borough Plan, recycling sacks and food waste caddy liners continue to be free for residents.
Our advice on how to put out recycling for collection stays the same – you can put recycling out in any clear, transparent sack, as well as the usual council recycling sacks.
We also wanted to share a few more tips about putting rubbish and recycling out in general:
- Put your rubbish, recycling, food waste and small electricals out for collection early on your usual day or the night before.
- Rubbish and recycling should be put out just inside the edge of your property or garden, so the waste crews can see it easily.
- You can use a dustbin for your bagged rubbish and recycling but we cannot collect from a wheelie bin.
- Rubbish and garden waste goes into refuse sacks (e.g. a black sack), recycling in any clear or transparent sack or a council recycling sack and food waste in the outdoor brown caddy.
- Small electricals: unwanted or broken small electrical items can be put out for recycling next to rubbish and recycling.
