How the Forward Plan works
We publish a monthly Forward Plan setting out the executive 'key decisions' which are proposed to be made on behalf of the local authority over the months ahead.
The law requires notice to be given of these items looking 28 days ahead, but we seek to identify items over a longer period, up to 12 months ahead (the plan also lists some other proposed decisions not in the executive key decision category).

Key decisions
Key decisions are, broadly, those executive decisions likely to result in significant spending or savings, or likely to have a significant effect on people living or working in two or more wards in the borough.

The following decision will not have had the requisite 28 days on the Forward Plan ahead of an SO83(A) decision being taken on behalf of the Cabinet:
Subject
Acquisition of 24 homes at Ransome's Wharf (Battersea Park) for social rent under the Homes for Wandsworth (HfW) programme.
Action
Delegate authority to the Executive Director of Growth and Place to enter into contracts on conclusion of legal and financial due diligence for the acquisition of 24 homes for social rent at Ransome’s Wharf.
It was considered impracticable to defer this decision to enable 28 days’ notice of the decision to be taken on the Forward Plan as it has only now been possible to confirm that the legal and commercial terms are nearing completion, following the conclusion of key negotiations and due diligence. The decision must be taken before the festive break to allow contracts to be concluded providing certainty for the developer in securing an affordable housing delivery partner, in order to commence works early in the New Year.
About the plan
Where the plan gives the date of an Executive meeting, that body is due to make the decision. It will be supplied with reports via the relevant Overview and Scrutiny Committees and other committees; these reports will be published as they become available. Other documents may be submitted and again these will be posted here.
