Council Leader meets Parkrunners to talk about faster council responses

After listening to residents, the Council brought Parkrun to Battersea Park last year as part of its Wandsworth Moves Together leisure strategy, aiming to help more residents get active every day.

The event has quickly become one of the most popular in the world. In just three months, it has welcomed over 10,000 runners, joggers, and walkers every Saturday morning, including over 1,000 doing their first ever parkrun at Battersea.

Simon Hogg, Leader of Wandsworth Council, said: “We are proud to host Parkruns in both Battersea and Tooting, providing a fantastic way for residents to come together, stay active, and enjoy our parks.

• We will fix graffiti, broken street signs, and dangerous potholes within 7 days.
• Emails to hello@wandsworth.gov.uk will receive a response from a real person.
• A public dashboard will track performance and hold the Council accountable.

The guarantee is part of a wider commitment to improving customer service and ensuring residents can easily report issues and see real results. It accompanies other new Council commitments, including two free bulky waste collections per household each year and the expansion of the popular Mega Skip Days.
